Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) o Bordereau Électronique de Suivi des Cargaisons (BESC)

All maritime shipments with final destination a Benin Port ( Cotonou) shall be regularized by an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note. Generally called BESC – Bordereau Électronique de Suivi des Cargaisons.

ECTN/BESC certificate is a necessary document requested by circular n° 019/MITMEF/DC/SGM/CTJ/SA/022SGG21 of 20/10/2021. Each B/L must be accompanied by an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note.

  • Bill of Lading – B/L
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Sea Freight invoice if commercial invoice is FOB or – EXW
  • Custom declaration – EXA

Additional documents – not mandatory

  • Packing List
  • Vehicle registration document (for RO-RO shipment)

 

Procedure
  • Collect all mandatory documents
  • Submit your request on-line or by e-mail
  • Wait for our invoice and draft ECTN
  • Check/confirm the draft and proceed with payment
  • Wait for the validated ECTN certificate

Is it possible to modify my ECTN/BESC certificate already validated?

Yes, however amendments post validation will be subject to extra costs.

Are there restrictions on the number of containers per ECTN/BESC?

No, but if the ECTN/BESC contains more than one container (20’/40′) you will be charged with additional fees.
